Importance of Link Building

Before Google came into the picture, submitting your website to search engines was pretty much the way to get listed in them & probably rank as well. When Google hit the scene, Search Engines were all about indexing as many web sites as possible. Google with its mindset of being different decided to add more strategies for websites to rank well. One of them was “Link Popularity” or “Backlinks”.

  • Backlink – A link back to your website.
  • Link Popularity – A web page with the most number of quality backlinks will enjoy link popularity & In turn high Page Rank.
  • Page Rank – PR is Rank given by Google on a scale of 1- 10 to rate the popularity of a web page.

Also called as “Breadcrumb” is a kind of navigation structure and has immense SEO value. A Breadcrumb Trail helps the user identify the category and section of the webpage he is in. Breadcrumb trails are generally found in websites with large amount of content which is organized hierarchically.

Blocking Search Engines Crawlers / Spiders using Robots.txt File

You require a robots.txt file only if you don’t want searchbots to crawl and therefore index certain pages. i.e you want to block particular pages of your website from coming in search results of search engines. If you want your entire site to be indexed, you don’t need robots.txt file in the first place.

Robots.txt is simply an ASCII text file placed at the root of your domain.
