Before I begin, A very Happy and Prosperous New Year to all of you. I had 10 days of leave from work, I traveled quiet a lot and I am a very very happy girl right now!!! Now, Back to Business. 

Funny I should write on this topic – What To Blog About; after 6 months of blogging. I sit on my table on 2nd of January 2010 and wonder, What topic to blog about? What should I write about next? and mind you, Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing are vast!!! There is humongous amount of data out there and data that comes in everyday to blog about.

Why did I choose to blog about SEO? Simple.. That’s my work, Its what I do!! I am sure that many first time bloggers face the dilemma of selecting the topic for their blog.

So, the question remains.

What should You Blog About? What should be the topic of your Blog?

The answer is even simpler than the question posed. Blog about,

• Something of your interest
• what you love
• your hobby
• your work
• Life, in general
• something that comes naturally to you
• GOD
• your neighbors, alright, I AM kidding!!

If it comes naturally to you, Blog about it.  The key idea is to hold the interest of a visitor. To Get his attention so that he comes back again to read more.

Now a days, many begin a blog with the idea of making money!!! Nothing wrong in it, but in the process, they select topics that are lucrative, not interesting, not what they would love to talk and share. If you are very very very dedicated, and can pull it off, good for you. But for others, the blog wont hold attention for very long. Maintaining the blog will eventually become a tedious job for them. All because they started on the wrong foot.

They say, in SEO, selecting the keywords is the basic step. I would say, choosing the correct blog topic is the most vital step.

Choose to write about what you love and the blog will most certainly become popular. and yes, you needn’t have the most puuurfect English, all you need is that special connection with your readers.

In fact, a dear friend of mine, a Doctor by profession who loves to travel has started a free blog recently and I am going to try hard to get him on wordpress, put up a nice theme to get him started.

I am planning to start another blog in 6 months, something about Travel & Food!! Why? I plan to do exactly this in a few years, travel my country and learn various cuisines and blog about it!! I have cooked up this plan as my new year resolution!!
